don't know which one to look at...giving a Bronica a Thought
Helen, the old focal-plane ones (S2, S2A, EC, &c.) are beautiful and have nice glass but weigh a Tonne. If you mostly shoot small lightweight RFs you will not know what hit you! I can't speak to the RF645 as I've never had one, but it should be much more lithe.

More from the Bronica ETR and 35mm W film back. I have a roll of Fuji Provia 100F in the 35mm back now. I am interested to see what the color will out like.

Mike, I love ^this one^! You said in your earlier post that it was difficult to compose without the 35mm grid line focusing screen, but if this is how you frame things up while winging it without the proper tools, I'd sure like to see what you might compose with the grid lines. Conventional composition police would probably say this one, being dead centered, "lacks movement" or some such, but I think it works beautifully. And the curved bridge combined with its reflection in the water made me do a double-take on first glance at this photo, thinking "what? A fisheye lens?! Oh, wait..."
Have you tried printing any of these panos? I'm curious as to how large you could reasonably get away with.

Lovely, Will.
Guess since nobody on RFF wanted my S2 fixer-upper body with a perfect Nikkor, I'll just have to send it to Frank Marshman myself and aspire to images like yours when it returns....

I can vouch for the SQ-A; electronic shutter, works with all the later Ai accessories (and let me tell you, the Ai finder and film backs are a huge improvement). My only beef is that bulb exposures are a magnificent pain, but that's not unique to that model.

GET the 75 Nikkor....
GET the 75 Nikkor....
Later Bronica's like the SQ- and SQB... (the SQ-B is a NON electronics SQ-A). It will not use the meters that are used on the A models. The SQ-B is less expensive, will use the standard prism and will use all the lenses for the SQ models and The GS model which is 6X7.
All the Bronica lenses after the S2A on the ETR, SQ A and B, and the GS-1 are shutter in lens and synch at all speeds. As I said the B is full manual operation only.
I carried a couple of S2A model shutter in body camera's for a long time. Great shooters. Stay away from the straight S2. It has a soft brass gear in the advance train that failed often. The S2A replaced that gear with steel. The S2 can be converted but not sure who still does that.
Final note, the 75mm Nikkor on the earlier models is reputed to be the sharpest of the lot, although the Zenza Bronica lenses are no slouch's.
I had the 75 Nikkor on my S2a's and it was the most used lens in my bag. I was told that the 75mm Nikkor was hard to find, because of it's high demand in the movie industry.
Both Bronicas, all my lenses and the bag they were in were stolen in 1995.

Thanks, Robert.
The old Bronica S was my replacement for the Hasselblad kit I sold. I didn't expect to like the kit even more. I think they are worth the repair cost.

Yes, you can use Fuji Instant in a Bronica.

Yes. I've shot tons of Fuji Instant in my Bronica with a Polaroid back. You get a 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 image on the 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 film, but it works just fine.

Bit of a guess here on lens.
Bit of a guess here on lens.
Bronica glass ranks among the best. There are about 4 variant model numbers in the 645 mount, and I wouldn't hazard a guess on which this is, but feel strongly it is a 150mm lens.
I have used the Bronica SLR 645 ETR up to ETRSi, primarily because I don't like to shoot square and the 645 format behind Bronica glass is nearly as good as I would expect from an SQ or a GS1 (6x7) and delivers 16 shot per roll on 120.
The AEIII metered prism is also very accurate.
The ETRSi is the last 645 model in these SLR bodies and has the max amount of feature built into the line, including Mirror Lock Up.
