All this talk about the R-D1 and no photos lately...

The past year has been so busy that what little time I had to shoot was spent shooting my son who just turned one. Snuck inside and snapped this one

Thought I'd post a few 'studio' shots as well to show that the R-D1 isn't at all limited to snap, landscape, candid and black and white street photography. Anyone else use their R-D1 in a studio (or similar situation) or for other purposes than those mentioned above?

yep, in the studio it's great... here it is with a 40mm VC MC 1.4: took these back in march when I got the R-D1

not the best framed, but still, pretty funny shot:

Who said the RD1 can't take sports

My 14 year old son hates it when we touch him or show affection in public. In fact we have a 'no touch' rule which he instigated when in public - one I take great joy in breaking to his annoyance

bellyface: nice light and skin. very natural portrait. careful with the dust on your sensor (lower left corner of the photo)...it's a pain i know!

John those are great, how do yo like the 40? I think it's one of the best.. I may eventually sell it and get a 35 1.2, but it has served me well. That's a guy i used to work with, quite a character, you can see it in the 2nd shot.. deer in headlights

You're dead right about the hair. It takes lots of careful placement and handfuls of gel to get the 'unkept' look just right.

He's also way over having a camera in his face all the time. You can see the 'no, Dad!' look in the second image. But with his twin brother and sister nearly 21, he's our 'baby' so he'll just have to put up with it

Bellyface,

I love the 40 Nokton. Maybe because it's the only lens I have for the RD1. Funds low at present so it's forcing me to stick to one focal length. It is tack sharp - sharpest lens I own when comapring to my DSLR ones. I like using it low light - similar to your first image which I like a lot especially the girl's expression. Shots like that are priceless.

My next is a fast 28 so I'm interested in anything you can show / tell about the Ultron.

Bellyface - as I look at the low light couples portrait, even though I like the warm tones, I can't help but think how it would look in B/W with the contrast dialled up. I'm sure you've tried?
