Great scene, Pan. Are these buildings from the 1950's? I would love to make some pictures there. Very photogenic.

Erik.

It is very likely that they are from the 50's. It was the early days when i moved to this town and if i knew then what i know now, i probably wouldn't wonder around these areas with a camera around my neck taking pictures. It is a deprived area of the town with a lot of drug related crime.

OMG. I thought to see there lonely old ladies with little dogs and students. Is that crime not being addressed?

Erik.

A lot depends on the funding and the resourses available to the police - it's not like you are going to be shot in the street or anything but i learned not to challenge my lack and avoid certain parts of the town.
And the pictures with the old ladies still exist - just on the other side of town.

Some 30 year old images shot originally with Fujichrome but then converted to black and white after scanning recently. Made on a trip around parts of the South Pacific. I think I prefer the black and white rendering in these instances as it responds better to the high contrast inherent in slide images which is difficult to make the best of when scanned in color.
