Going through my own gallery here at RFF I notice that it is more than 10 years since I posted my first photo, wow, times flies!

My photo style has changed in these years...not sure why but I'm going for less descriptive pictures...more mood, more blurr or soft focus...

It could be interesting if you post here the first photo you posted in the gallery possibly with a few notes from your side. Has your style changed? Has the new gear changed your style? Or...

I think that rangefinder camera changed my way - less perfection, more content, essence.

Interesting, Robert!

Since I care nothing about posting in any gallery, I cannot contribute except to say that nothing camera or system-wise has really changed for me since 2005 when I shot mostly sports events.

I do find the choice of lenses limits me more than anything. Without Tele/zoom tele lenses, I rarely shoot at ball games and never at motorports events anymore.

The format, however, has changed dramatically though. Film! In 2005, I was strictly digital. Now I shoot both but I am discriminating in my choices of formats preferring film for black and white.😀

I also find this an interesting thread.

Despite all the gear aquisitions, my shooting style hasn't changed.

I still take my 'best' (for me anyway) photos with the R-D1 and 60's Leica lenses.

This is the oldest in my gallery but I can't quite remember if it was the 'official' first, as I have removed some since then.

I do remember that I had just received a 21SA in the post, hastily attached it the R-D1 and snapped this...

It would be interesting to see more from the other members.🙂

In the Tenderloin, San Francisco November 2012.
M4, 50/2 Planar

I had been a member of RFF about a year and a half. On this trip I was shooting the M4 with the ZM 50, 15/4.5, and Serenar 100, and the Bronica RF645--and a GXR to make sure I got at least a few keepers. But the best work came from the two RFs with FP4, HP5, and Delta 3200.

Without my meaning to do so, this image and another one of my best from that trip were posted with the "Rate This Photo" tool--and both earned a 1 out of 10 from some tough minded anonymous critic! Ouch. I've never used that tool since.

This was my first. I hoped one day to graduate to inclusion in the Gallery Picks, only to have this one included in that first week. That was a proud day for me.....

taken with my old 5D and 24-105/4L IS lens on a hot (40+C) Sydney day. I'd gone for a walk at lunch time and found this pooch patiently waiting for its owner on the steps of an inner city art gallery.

I was delighted and surprised to receive favourable comments in the Gallery.

I still love taking photos of dogs. I've gone back to mostly shooting with film since I took this photo.

Taken with a FED 2 I bought on ebay. It's the camera that set me down the rangefinder path. I didn't have a scanner so this was reshot with a Canon D60 and homemade slide copier

This is my oldest surviving Gallery photo, uploaded in August 2004. The Gallery was migrated to new forum software, and not all content survived the move. But it was a reshoot of an earlier pic for which Rich Silfver made some useful suggestions. It's a door of a motel in my neighborhood that was being demolished.

I might take the same shot nowadays, but it would be digital.

Lynn, I remember that dog photo with fondness... excellent!

Thanks you all for the contribution, of course saying "the first" we mean the oldest we have in the RFF gallery, I understand we all update regularly, add something and take away something else...
And congrats, good stuff since the beginning from many RFFers 🙂

I think this may be it. Looking at the date taken, this was within a month of acquiring my M2 and in a roll exposed during Xmas 2005 and early January 2006. It must have been my first roll of Neopan 1600 (probably a test roll), developed commercially in a lab, a film I used heavily until it was axed. So, that's nearly ten years ago for me too, time within which I hope I've learned a thing or two and also haven't lost sight of what it was that made photography tick for me in the first place.

Interesting thread, because time really goes by when you're busy taking photos. This is my first street photography image that I found interesting, so I'm going to upload it on rff gallery as my first. July 27, 2007 - Beaches Jazz festival toronto.

May 2009, my first Double Exposure posted and the first one I ever took with a Rangefinder... Still shooting Multiple Exposures and fighting the cameras every bit of the way 😀

This is my oldest photo I have in the Gallery. I took this with my Canonet QL17GIII. I still have & use that little gem. I'm pretty sure this is the 1st roll of film I developed with HC-110. Looking at it now it seems to lack contrast but I was happy to get a 9 out of 10 rating plus 2 comments. I also learned to scan & upload a photo. When I came to RFF in 06 I knew absolutely nada about computers. Still don't, but I can copy & paste as well as upload a photo. RFF has taught me quite a bit.😀

@ gb hill: maybe in that time you didn't know anything about computers but for sure you knew how to get "the moment" !
