The best camera is one that still works!
I've found the Merrill quite difficult to photograph Australian bush scenes with. The extreme micro contrast in certain conditions can make images look a little frazzled for some reason. This image is a prime example where originally I was confronted with almost too much detail for my tastes.

Hmm ... currently have one of those Leica VlOOH finders on the DP2M which is interesting because you can adjust it to represent the exact field of view by setting it approximately halfway between the 50mm and 35mm setting ... and it has parallax adjustment. Will give it a decent try out this weekend.
Looks very cute on the little Sigma!

I did the same thing a while back and put a small piece of black line tape for the exact mark. With the strong sun here -it worked great when the screen blacked out!

The face of police brutality. (From Occupy Gezi Lyon, today in Lyon France, taken with DP1M).

I've always thought those universal finders looked pretty weird ... strangely it looks very at home on the Sigma.

Keith,
The level of detail seen in your photo is precisely the primary appeal of the Foveon X3 sensor to me. The only problem is when the view is not still enough for the shutter speed. But I guess that is true with any camera technology.

Another one with DP1M today, again some cropping. Really want to try the 2M.

Nice one that shows how the DP Merrills are not really "slow" cameras.

Thanks Jon. The camera was not as immediate as a RF but it‘s not a turtle either.

Holy cow! ... went out today and shot a lot of pics at ISO 100 which I haven't really done before. Mostly landscapes etc in the valley behind Brisbane. I go to this valley in winter for the colour of the grasses which tend to go a beautiful straw tone at this time of year but I have yet to see a colour image that does the place justice ... until now!
My respect for the little Merrill has just increased one hundred fold ... will post some images when I'm done post processing.

Keith I notice this problem from time to time - maybe its a feature of the Ozzie bush as I don't have a camera with a foveon sensor. However here is a suggestion for you. If you have the Nik Color Efex plugin use the "Glamor Glow" effect on the image. I have found it works marvelously to take out some of that excess micro contrast without losing any image quality. Its a useful effect but you need to experiment with how much of it you apply overall and in each of the dark and white side of the curve.

I was in the Aussie bush (Dandenongs), it's a a difficult place to shoot, as it's very 'cluttered', I don't think my DP2M had anything to do with it, it's just tricky place, too much for the eye to take in, I try to look for the little details
