And Gary:
Thinking about all things foveon and the possibilty of an SD1M the new 18-35 f1.8 lens caught my eye at the B&H site. That on the SD1M would be magic IMO. 27mm to 52mm equivalent focal length and enough speed that the ISO limitations of the sensor become of little issue. I note that the lens isn't available yet but I'm watching!![]()
And here I thought u talked yourself out of the sd1m when u bought the dp3m
Yep that f1.8 zoom looks pretty good. Even w/ the better af motor in that lens, I would suspect that the d700 is going to af lock much faster though.

AF is for pussies! LOL
I've been checking the reviews of that lens and generally it seems like a gem.
I just like the idea that you can capture the wide end of foveon photography with this much lens speed ... at a price of course!
There's actually more than enough stuff in my cupboard that's not being used to cover the cost of this possibility.

Hi, Helen, remember the dp3m is a 50mm lens, then it needs more speed...hte others are 30mm and 19mm lenses, so need much slower speeds to attain steady shots with steady subjects.
Keith that 3rd nude is simply great! great hi iso processing!
Bye!

The first thing I noticed with the DP3M is the 'camera-shake' symbol comes on at a much higher speed than my DP2M. As 'monochrom' suggests keeping to 1/125 as the lowest speed should help. I've always found my DP2M prone to blur at low speeds and I assume this is a function of the enormous file size making focus much more critical.
Nice capture!

An example of how much detail is really there in the raw file

An example of how much detail is in the RAW files.. Here is the Sunflower shot again
Now here is a 30% crop of the center
Now the 100% crop.. Those white specks turned out to be small droplets of water..
Most likely if I had shot this using a tripod, the details would be much better.. but then I would not have had this grab shot as I was entering Whole Foods Market as well..

First shot with my new (well... secondhand) DP2M. Not a particularly nuanced or revealing shot, seeing as how most of it is oof but I love the rendition and tones. Wide open, handheld at 1/200. Minimal processing in SPP -> Tiff16 in Lightroom.
There is definitely a learning curve with this camera but I'm excited to have my hands on it!

Great start ... I have to admit my first photos from my DPM were not great. Having never composed with an LCD I was having a lot of trouble with compoosition and camera shake.

Broke out the my dusty off camera flash light stand and beauty dish.
Triggered with cybersyncs which performed flawlessly.

Got my AML-2 adaptor today, works very well, no noticeable loss of quality. DOF is razor thin, and camera shake is a problem, but it's very good indeed.

Beautiful foveon pics in this thread
Keith, stunning Black and white.
J.scooter, your portrait are beautiful.
Lovely abstract by bk1970.....too many people to name ..Gary you too
.....picked up a dp3m myself today
From the few quick snaps that I've taken most of them seems to be blurry
Very frustrating indeed. I guess I might have to use it with a tripod or up the shutter speed more in the future.
I really love the color and sharpness of this sensor I hope they will put some sort of in body stabilizaion in their future Macro model. Here a pic before the battery died.
