Thank you, Benjamin. Well for me it's a landscape with a horizon. In reality, it's part of a wall.

bk1970. I must echo Benjamin's praise. It's a rare skill you have to pick out those abstracts. I bet they look glorious printed big.

Thank you, JJ, you're too kind! Yeah, I think it's in their nature to be fairly big, and treated more like paintings, not photographs.

The best camera is one that still works!
This photo is an example of what I like about the foveon sensor. There's amazing detail in the hair in particular but there's also a really pleasing palette that doesn't jar like so many highly detailed digital images tend to do.
It's what attracted me to the camera's images and made me want one ... any day now!

Great stuff, bk. I don't have a dp so I'm butting in here but you're inspiring me to try some abstracts, which is something I've never done.

Thanks, v_roma, much appreciated. Yeah, I love doing it, it a special way of looking at the world. Very satisfying.

I've been wanting to experiment with your style, bk, but I haven't gotten out to shoot this week. I just snapped this offhand. The 50 was nearly long enough for the frame I needed (so it's well-cropped). But I liked the dead, grey pallor and the tree hiding between the buildings. It's not desaturated by anything more than the 'neutral' color setting.

Nice shot.

Finally at home...
I just had a malware warning because of an externally hosted image!

Went out shooting today; too sunny and pretty to pass up. I found it impossible to use the rear lcd screen, so I was glad I had an optical viewfinder. Very much like shooting film, as I couldn't see pictures until getting home. Nothing special:

I have been experimenting a lot w/ the monochrom mode on this camera. Here is a set from the dp1m. Since the new 1.04 fw update and the spp support of raw b&w, I really really like the monochrom shots. This set was all shot at 4th street Berkeley.

Thanks, Benjamin. Maybe when time allows, why not.
