I'm starting to bond with the little Merrill.
In spite of it's slightly autistic attitude to photography!

Thanks BK. Honestly been saying the same thing to myself about everything you post. Lit a fire under this thread.

I'm leaving for a short week to go hiking, and for the first time the only cameras I will be taking are a pair of DP Merrills (1&3, with CV finders on top). C1 is set up for exposure bracketing on tripod work, for potential HDR; C2 is set up for overcast (ISO 320, Cloudy WB, +0.7 exp comp, f/2.8 start point etc); C3 is set up for sun (ISO 200, Sun WB, 0 exp comp, f/5.6 start point, etc.). Lee ND grad filter set and Sigma Circular Polarizers in the bag, along with 11 extra batteries
. All fits into two waterproof sealed pouches from Ortlieb that hitch onto the hip belt of my McHale SARC pack.
The snow is starting to melt, and there will be some interesting early spring scenes at lower elevations. Let's see what I can do with this!
Meantime, you DPM users rock!

Have fun! I'm curious to hear how the ND grads work out, I haven't tried using the Lee holder and filters on non-dslrs that have small diameter glass.

Wish I wasn't as fat/old/out of shape as I am! I'd be hard-pressed to lug 11 batteries anywhere!

Enjoy your trip! Wish I was there!

So my Sigma aml2 close up lens arrived today. This filter was designed to be used w/ the dp2m. The focusing range is limited to from 19 to 32 cm. plane of focus is pretty tight. Can be used in both af and mf mode. I found it a bit easier to focus using mf and the mag mode. Here is some quick test shots...all hand held..@f8..all shutter speeds were above 200 if I remember correctly. Slight wind today. These were all tiff16 w/ my normal default Aperture preset..
These shots if orange rose were pretty close to min. focus.
Around 60% crop
100% crop
A 20% crop to square perspective
Another 20% crop but focus was slightly farther away then the rose shots.
This will due until I get a dp3m which should be more versatile and better iq.. The filter is too deep to use w/ the Sigma dedicated lens hood for the camera and I need to take off the uv filter as well, bit of a pain, but expected. It comes w/ its own black carrying case w/ velvet like material on inside which is nice versus just a plain plastic filter case.
