I used the Summar for the first time in this image of our daughter. It was at Barnes and Noble, I recall. Must have been taken with the M3 or Canon P, and Fuji Reala film. It was in 2007 based on the information posted at RFF.

The "print" is square because I cropped from the right the glare outside the bookstore.

This shot in my gallery had a lot of luck involved. Friends asked if I was interested in attending a horse show in Calgary, they had an extra ticket. Took the Leica and 90mm fat TE along with some Tri-X and high speed Ektachrome tungsten. A local lab would push the stuff and allow you to underexpose a couple stops.

At the event the light was so dim that panning was the only option. Wide open f/2.8 around 1/15” then using the corner of the range finder patch for a reference point , tried to follow the rider during exposure. The rider was Ian Miller riding the horse called Big Ben. He had been an Olympic competitor and winner. I sent Ian a copy of the photo and a model release which he signed and returned. I’d entered the photo in a competition and they needed the release. Prize money paid most of the lens. 🙂

This was ten years ago in a school playground in Paris. I was intrigued by this seemingly purposeless barrier. The boys had kicked the ball over my way and I noticed it and I was glad not to get hit. Only noticed the ball after importing the image to Lightroom on my iPad. It was at 1/500s so I presume the ball bobbled around, slowed and was caught here close to the zenith of a bounce.

Many years ago I used to drive monthly from Pensacola to New Orleans to take night photos in the French Quarter. In the RFF Gallery I said this: "I started out with the grainy and low contrast Scotch 1000 slide film [now discontinued]. After scanning in color mode, I switched to grayscale, worked on increasing the contrast, went back to color mode, and adjusted the colors to give this effect." It was most likely taken with the Nikon F2 and 105mm 2.5.

I published this image in an article that I submitted to Shutterbug Magazine. It was about "Night Photography in the French Quarter".
 
And one more....

This is not a great photo, I know. But it was the first photo I took with a digital camera that I really liked. Prior to this, everything was Leica M6, HP5 and darkroom. After this, everything changed to digital and Lightroom.

This from 2008, Canon 30D, Tokina 12-24 lens.

Well, okay.

The first one was done while I was waiting to be called for a surgical procedure. It was successful. This lady was apparently waiting for someone who was in surgery. I liked her plaid shoes. I used a Ricoh GRII.

The photo of the airplane and moon was done while I was playing around with an Olympus OMD-EM1, a very nice old Olympus 50-200 zoom with 2X extender and an adapter to use on M43. It was late afternoon and the sun hit both airplane and moon perfectly.

People were exercising in a parking lot as I was walking through. The guy here was watching the lady's...uh, form. Another lucky moment in time. Lumix LX-5 pocket camera.

Speed hump...speed bump. Something to slow down autos in a residential area. No other remarks should be necessary (I hope). Olympus E-620 camera and Olympus 12-60mm lens.

Friends were visiting us and brought their dog Angus. I was playing around with a 7Artisans 35/0.95 lens on a Fuji X-Pro2 and shooting pretty close to maximum aperture. But I think I stopped down a bit for this shot. Angus was sitting in his mom's lap to avoid our dog Christie's overly affectionate behavior. Christie couldn't stop looking at Angus. He was aloof. I call it "Puppy Love".

I could not get a ticket to the performance in Preservation Hall, so I was trying to get a vintage look of old times Jazz atmosphere in New Orleans through the window.

Canon F1N or T90 with Canon 50mm 1.2.
Film: Scotch 1000 transparency film. A grainy film.
