We were on a car trip from Germany to Denmark and Norway. On the drive back, we stopped one night in Aarhus (Denmark). We made the mistake of leaving our luggage in the rental car overnight. Some people smashed the car windows and they stole all of our luggage. The day after--- a RFF member in Aarhus assisted us with filing a police report, and we all then had lunch together with his wife and baby and our family. I took one photo of my wife here:. We were sitting across a table from each other, and it must have been closer than the minimum focusing distance for the lens. Sharpness is sometimes not the most important factor in an image. We were all shaken by the robbery, and we tried to save the trip somehow. We all went shopping for clothes and stuff!

This is a wonderful portrait of Rasha, the light, her expression, the color.
And the story about makes it more interesting.
This is a good thread Raid, thank for having started it. I encourage evryone to add a few words about the story of the photo they post, it could be a good way to know each other better. Just my idea, of course.

Your Aarhus story reminds me that despite the rough things in llife there is an abundance of good people out there. I am always amazed at just how many good, decent people there are. And you found them in Aarhus after your terrible robbery.

Good thing you did not leave the camera in the car. ;o)
 
Yes, I was protective of my camera and lenses. One of our daughters was smarter than I and she brought her luggage to the hotel.

The RFF member and his wife met with us in the hotel in the morning, He told us that most likely our car was broken into. We did not believe it!
 
Wonderful idea for a thread Raid. Love your opening image. A lot of history there, slide mount evident. And great story. Five to seven hours amongst the mosquitoes.

This is from soon after I got the Hasselblad. I must have walked past this tree twice a day for two or three weeks a year for ten years. Only with the Hasselblad on the tripod over my shoulder did I notice her. And it was really Michael Kenna’s photograph of a wizened tree by a lake on Hokkaido that made me finally decide to buy a Hasselblad.

Thank you Richard. The RFF Gallery doesn't make it easy for us to find images and to post lengthy comments about our images there, so having a thread that encourages each of us to post a few selected images and then to briefly discuss the story behind each image is interesting.

You’re leading this thread selflessly but do occasionally show us a few more of yours. I liked Robert’s analysis of the coming and the going white shirted men in the Galleria in Milano in your other thread.
 
This is from a trip to Italy many years ago. I used a Rolleiflex 2.8D and a light tripod to get this image in Lucca. The light looked just perfect for a snapshot then. I added the Sepia tone later on. During this trip I had with me only the Rolleiflex TLR and the tiny MINOX GT. Film develping was done in Ulm (Germany) where we stayed for a while.
Lucca used to be less crowded by tourists twenty years ago, but then it got flooded by tourists on their way to Florence.
