Post your Industar 26 Photos

Now that I have come to terms with the Summitar 5cm 1.5, I am curious as to the capability of the Industar 26 lens. Having used it sparingly, I think this year would be more fun if I were to use it more. So, here are a couple of test images that I compared with my D2X.

It would be great to see postings of YOUR images made with the Industar 26 lens!🙂

What lens were you using on the D2X?

As I recall, it was the 70-200 2.8 VR lens...most fantastic lens I ever used. Regret having to sell all of my "pro" gear.

Now, to be fair, it was a low contrast image in the shade and I did a complete test of images from 2.8 to 16 with varying speeds. The resolution, meaning zooming in to microscopic closeness, was amazing. Not able to get that with the mediocre film scan of the Industar lens image.

But, it does show that the Industar lens is capable of nice detail under normal shooting situations,. as Paul's images clearly show!

Got myself a nice looking Industar-26m today and planned to use it on my Leica M3 with an adapter.

Darn thing won't screw all the way down on the Leitz adapter and refuses to do so on the FED-2 it came with as well.

Apparently, the Industar was made in batches for either FED or Zorki and the Zorki versions have a less extended thread on them, my friend Derk (also a lurker here) told me on the phone tonight...

Oh well, that's a decent excuse to buy a few more of them, or maybe a Zorki body to test the theory...


Anybody got any more Industar-26 shots to show? I have always found them to look real good, sharp and such...!

I had to dig, but I found a few:









It's a nice lens, but mine really stinks for colour. It's got a yellowish tint. I should really use it more for B&W, though. It just tends to get left behind in favour of the marginally more versatile J8 all the time, which is a crying shame.

Whoa! Pretty nice shots!

A long time agon, I saw the shots Dave started this thread with and thought that I had been lucky enough to donate a decent enough lens and not a dud, but apparently there's more decent Industar 26m's out there!

Yellowish tint in colour sounds very 1960s to me 😀 and in B&W it definitely is nice!

Gotta find me a clean one that will thread down on the Leica M adapter and see what it can do!

The problem, as far as I've gathered, is possibly variations in thread pitch, though I'd have to see the lens in question to see what exactly goes on...

No problem, I've at least four (LT)M39 mounts handy so we'll be able to try & find out. I hope it'll work on one of them; looking at the shots here I now want to try that lens 😀
