the x100 is probably the best available camera for this kind of crap.
 
Just got mine yesterday...and I'm extremely impressed. I'd been worried about the "slow" AF but it seems fine to me...at least for my purposes. It's so good that even with a busted collar bone I can still grab a shot!

I'm very much looking forward to being able to use this properly, especially making the most of the high ISO. I can see why Keith has been so taken with the X100 and its ability in the dark.

The X100 is really good for that. Absolutely no noise to clean up on long exposures. There's supposed to be some Northern Lights activity this weekend and I'm going to take the X100 out to see if I can capture them.
 
I'm really enjoying the X100's small form factor and rangefinder-like handling...it seems to allow candids without announcing itself...
