Great stuff, Maggie. The hat hanger/sculpture composition is so cool. and the picture of Michael really shows off the low-light abilities of the X100. Thanks for posting these.
I can't really say much as I don't have an X100 but The trend I'm seeing is that people get a camera like this that is easy to take everywhere and they start just snapping away at nothing. I don't think that just because you are on the street snapping random images, you are a street photographer.
I'm seeing some beautiful images in here but I'm also seeing lots of ho-hum stuff.
I guess with all of the hype surrounding the X100 I expected better...
This has nothing to do with the X100. People all like the idea of street photography, but few can execute in a way that engages the viewer. They think that stealth is a license to take a skewed photo of the back of people. They would be better served engaging in the surroundings and taking shots where there is something to say and something for the viewer to engage with. But this isn't a problem with the X100, it's a problem with the type of photography and its ordinary executing.
