Lovely images of and from Japan, Yukusoka.

Long time since I was in Japan. Needs a revisit.

Thank you for sharing.

john, your photos are one of the reasons i decided to finally pick up an X100F. love the work on your blog!

would you mind sharing what your processing is like? you're achieving a very distinctive, soulful look in your images.

Thank you for that. Above all in a photograph I value expressiveness, so your "soulful" comment is particularly appreciated.

I can't say much about processing. I use LR and Silver Efex and basically play around with global and local contrast, structure, dodging, and burning.

I recently replaced a lost GR with the X100F. I wasn't too taken with it at first, but it's growing on me.

Thank you, Helen. I grew up in Horseheads, which is a "suburb" of Elmira. I think you Big City folk know Elmira for the penitentiary. But I couldn't get out of there fast enough and left at 18.

My mother and much of my family still live there. I visit now and then. She just passed away and I took a couple roadtrips from Chicago in her last days. I took my time and photographed along the way. This is one of them. Looking at the pictures now, they seem filled with metaphor to me. I considered starting a thread on it and sharing, but wasn't ready to do that.

I'm working on trying to get the most of BW tonality from the X100F files and appreciate your comment about that. It's no MM, but I'm working at it.

John
