No, I am not selling. No I am not disappointed. Yes I still love it. Yes it is the best digital I have etc.
However, I just have not worked out a neat solution to hood and filter use. I like the never-ready case and keep it in that in my day-bag. One advantage is that the exposure compensation is almost never bumped off the previous setting. This is with me all the time, everywhere I go. I did have it without that nice thread covering ring and use the lenscap with or without that. If I am out and about shooting I will use the half case and screw on the filter adapter and hood which are locked together in the little pouch the hood came with, and that is always in the outer pocket of my day-bag. I would like something like a Leica never ready case in which I could have the hood and filter (which I don't use at all now) on all the time. It would be bulkier. The current set up actually works for me, but I am sort of embarrassed by it. I was cheered up by a photo of Capa and a colleague in the war, with their cameras still in their full cases. For the first 15 years I had the M2 it was always in the case.
What do others do? Is the hood even necessary with this camera? I don't use it much and haven't had a problem. I don't like how unprotected the lens is, but with a filter on I can't use the case.
