Prague - Couples at night [Nocti pics]

That's so true Caffeineshutter! It's something I ponder on from time to time and wonder whether it's mainly shutter and damping differences. From paradoxical results with a variety of cameras and lenses over many years I can't think it's just weight and balance of combined body and lens. In fact I don't think they're very important as factors. My Nikons seem best of all (D100) by a very large amount. I can hold them at 1/15 at get very reliable results, even better than M4-P, M7, R3M, R3A, all of which were far better than a Canon 350D (which was often unreliable at 1/90) and a 20D which was just as heavy as the D100! (Only comparing results for equivalent focal lengths, of course).

Number 1!
Best regards Wolfhard

Thank you!

Very fine series, congrats.

#2 is really, really great.

Didn't care as much for #1 as some other folks did, mainly because all the lights seem to compete too much with the subject. The tone in all of them is beautiful though.

Good stuff!

Thank you very much - I see your point about Nr. 1 vs Nr. 2; the composition in Nr. 2 was a sort of homage to the classics, film noir like - about the tones, I must say I really like Neopan 1600 in 510-Pyro, a wonderful combination.

Nice. I like the first and the second.

Here's mine.

It's neither a Noctilux nor a rangefinder shot, but an (O)M-2 and Zuiko(lux) 50/1.4 on Ilford XP2 😀

Thank you, glad you enjoyed - I see, probably is the Tourist Board that keep "kissers & huggers" on a payroll to be on Charles Bridge every day 😀

It's interesting to me how one can hand-hold shots (assuming yours are hand-held) with some cameras at very low speeds with nothing unsharp (my D70 - perhaps because of its weight and type of shutter - allows this)

Other cameras of mine...I'm not so lucky with.

CJ

Hand-held indeed. I find the MP & Nocti producing easily usable pictures down to 1/15 and even 1/8; no way I could do this with my D3 without VR's help... 😉

I think weight and balance do have a very important role, however having a mirror slapping all over the place doesn't help much either; some SLR/DSLR cameras are better damped than others, but the difference IMHO is always very present when comparing them with a RF.

I used to live in Prague, and these are very tame compared to what I used to stumble across/over on the way back home through Petrin late at night. I admire your discretion!

Your pictures are wonderful

The third one is really good in it's graphic composition, and seems consistent with not showing their faces. I like it!

amazing work, you have a eye for beauty!

That second shot is pure gold... f1.0 at ISO 1600 (what was your shutter speed?) That's why the noct is so special after all.

You play to this lens' strengths, and vice-versa. So sumptuous to the eye!

Those are simply lovely shots. Like many others, I really like #2 -- so beautiful! I was in Prague three years ago, and admire what you've done here.

Thank you very much everyone! 😀 I am glad you enjoyed - shutter speeds where around 1/15 - 1/30 max. I am sorry for the delayed replies, but I kinda forgot this thread (to my defense, I moved and am just back to full operation since a couple of weeks!). Thanks everyone!
