praise zeiss lens

(didn't i post this article already? anyway ..)

due to a lucky twist of fate (please allow me to skip -boring- details), today i became the happy owner of a ZM T* biogon 2,8/25mm lens.
though i could only gather little experience yet, i can say - WOW! what a lens.
sharp, contrasty, smooth, homogenous. beside the 50mm summicron, probably the best lens i own. it's not "out of this world" though - there is a little bit of flare around light sources that happen to fall within the field of view - but less than with other lenses i own.

i'm veeeeery happy, even celebrating with some 'primitivo' (nice red wine from italy) and art pepper playing for me.

the only downside: now my (just few weeks old) 28mm ultron became "pretty vacant". (anyone interested?)

Congratulations on you new lens. I have been having GAS over the ZM 25 ever since I saw I link to that giant arial shot. Since I've got the CV 28, which is a much nicer lens than I could have imagined, I decided to grab a CV 21 to give me a wider range of lenses. Are you using an external VF for the 25? if so, which one?

BTW,I have the ZM 50/2 and really love the tonality of the images it produces on the rd-1. Haven't had a chance to shoot a roll of film with it, but I can't wait to see the results.

no need for sorry. using filters is not a sacrilege from my point of view - unless you look out for flare 😛

i do not use an external finder - i get along with the 28mm setting in the RD-1 quite well.

It's almost a shame to use this lens on a digital device with a 1.53x factor. Then it becomes an expensive and somewhat pedestrian 38mm focal length -- albeit a very good 38mm lens.

the equivalent 35mm format FOV is 32 mm on the leica M8, not on the R-D1.
