On second view I guess that the original shot was done with a TLR because of the perspective. There is a lower point of view and less dept of field.

Possibly. Or a Speed Graphic given the official Signal Corps marker.
The ground has been raised, and the original concrete boarder has been removed.

If I studied the original photo a bit better when taking this one I would've taken it from a better matching perspective. But I was already leaning over a parked car when I took it, though.

Could be that the original shot was taken with the photographer kneeling. It is clear that a wide-angle lens was used. So not a TLR, but also not a 35mm. The DOF is too shallow. Interesting.

Erik.

De Freitas also appears to have been a relatively short fellow compared to Drake in my photo, another bit of perspective I would not have been able to match.

Sold my pre-war uncoated Elmar 90mm 4.0 tonight. Very nice lens to have and hold, but I never used it...
Only have my nickel Elmar 50mm left now.

Still wanting the nickel Elmar 35mm for my little Leica but can't afford it. Maybe someday...

PS I haven't been around for a while and cannot remember or figure out how to upload the actual image from Flickr to here. Answer not in FAQ from what I can see. I do remember it was NOT intuitive. The upload image button with the pretty sunset did not work.

The light wasn't optimal I feel.

Had better results earlier in the day

Shame Prince Charles and his entourage did not pass by our little 'field studio'.

I bought a 50x60 cm Büscher press (for drying silver/gelatine prints) for EUR 50. I've been looking for one for years. The heating works, but the thermostate does not. I guess it is not a problem. Eventually it can be repaired.

(Later the seller did not want payment.)
