Very lovely work, David. As Steve says, your Elmar must have an outstanding condition. Are the elements inside cleaned? Usually there is a haze that ruins the performance of the old Elmars.

Thanks Erik, the Elmar does have some issues, but it's not bad considering it's age! I always use a FISON hood though..

2.8cm f6.3 Hektor (uncoated)

Hello,
This lens was the only Leitz very wide angle lens available for the Leica screw cameras for 20 years from 1935 until 1955.
However, there seem to be very few examples of photography using the 2.8cm Hektor lens on this forum.
I am sure it must have been widely used on Leica's of the time.
Any examples using this lens, I am sure, would be of great interest to forum members including myself.
Many thanks.

No examples of photo's using the 2.8cm f6.3 Hektor yet !
Does nobody use this lens?......:bang:

I doubt I'll ever buy one but I was interested in seeing some of these as well! There's a few example in a Leica book I bought from the 50's. Wide angle photos of the 50's look strange haha

Of course there must be some users of the 2.8cm Hektor, but regarding your earlier suggestion that this must have been a popular lens, perhaps not so much. Laney's Leica guide indicates a total production number for this lens to be under 10,000. For a point of comparison, the 3.5cm Elmar, covering a similar length of production years (1932 - 1950), reached more than 42,500 in total production.

There may not be anyone here posting Hektor images but there are some to be seen on Flickr, if you do a search and then poke around a bit.

In any case, now that you have this lens you can post some of your pictures here! I would also welcome the opportunity to see more of them.

James
