I'm wondering if this one might be over-sharpened in post. It just seems artificially sharp to me. If so, I'd like to see it without the sharpening, for comparison. It just doesn't look like it was taken with prewar glass.

That is exactly why I use no or only a minimum of sharpening when digitally preparing a silver/gelatine print. Too much sharpening ruins the effect of the silver image on the film and the paper.

Thanks for the Tractor comments, folks. Let's go with the same photo unedited. I often edit to the way I remember the subject but maybe I've seen too many "snappy" ones and it is affecting my processing. The camera has a fixed Elmar with no serial.
