I've been reading thru the archives of various forums with references to the pre-asph 35mm lux. Some people claim it can be bought for around $1K is this a realistic price point?

I've tried to search for completed items on ebay but apparently the history only goes back so far so it doesn't bring up many results..

PS. If you have a 35mm Lux for sale, let me know 😉

Hi ywenz,
I bought mine about 9 months ago from a dealer boxed with warranty and hood for £700 (about$1200). Based on that I would have thought $1000 for a private sale for the lens would be about right.

I bought mine for Euro 1000 ( Titanium; condition A) after some negotiations (it was priced 1250 Euro).
It is one of my favourite lenses: i use it more on the R-d1 than the 35 cron asph.
Although i do not expect you to buy an M8 i can tell you it will be one of my favourites on that camera too.
Just one tip .... try to find a version of the later batches (improved coating; less flare, better wide open: all not reported officially but general consensus from users of the lens)...

Ywenz, I looked at these ones and their price fluctuates between $1,200 and $1,500. Check out Adorama. They have a titanium for sale at $1539 without hood, though.

BTW, filters and hoods for this lens aren't easy to come by. Some early versions have a 41mm filter size, and others use the Series VII filters (with the hood as retaining ring). BTW, the hood itself isn't too hard to find, but you won't run into third party hoods. According to Sartorious, it is the 12504, but it can use the OLLUX too (and that's really hard to find). Dave Elwell, from Leica, told me they can ship you the 12504 brand new for $200.

I ended up buying the aspherical in the end. Pricy, yes, but a joy to use (and bigger, which is good because my hands are big).

Take care! 🙂
