Hi,

Has anyone used Pro Photo Connection for processing and scanning color film? I have asked one person already but thought I'd cast a wider net for any impressions/feedback. They seem to come up as recommendations along the likes of Richard Photo Lab and Indie Film Lab but they are considerably cheaper. I am a little confused between the info in their pricing page and the order form but it looks like Pro Photo Lab process + scan would be $7.50. I am wondering if anything is sacrificed for the lower price.

Thank you very much,
Vasco

Hi there,

They're my local lab actually and I have them process all of my film. I've had them do scans in the past and they were flawless, but I usually save that for better work and I'll just scan at home.

Their prices are absolutely reasonable and their quality is consistent. I've never used Indie film lab yet but I've heard good things there too. RPL is known for quality but they are a bit costly. I go to pro photo because they are reasonably local for me, and they always do a good job.

I actually sent Pro Photo Connection Irvine an email early last week (using the email address they listed on the website), asking about the pricing similar to yours, and I never got a reply back from them.

This made me not wanting to use their service because if they don't care enough to reply to my question then I wonder if they will reply my email if I have problem with my order. Too bad I'm not that far from them (I'm in Los Angeles) and I would rather send my films closer instead of to other places out of the state.

agphotography, do you know if there's another email address that I should use to contact them? They have pricing for "Process and CD" but also say "Scans - add $5.00 per roll for 35mm" so I'm confused whether or not I need to add $5 to the "Process and CD" order too(?)

Indie Film Lab is definitely my alternative that I'm probably going to now try. They seem really friendly and everything is explained out well and thoroughly on their website for different customizations they can do...

I used IFL and was very pleased with the results. They will email you to let you know they received your rolls and then will upload the scans to an FTP when ready. Turnaround varies but is typically longer than most other places but, to me, it is worth the wait.
