I have recently bought an Epson V500 scanner. I am using an XP computer with Photoshop CS3 as my PP software. I have scanned some negatives using CS3 as the import software. I did my post processing and saved as a PSD for later adjustments. I also wanted to save as a JPEG so I culd post on the web.
When I go to "save as" I have several types of file formats, TIFF, PSD etc. but no JPEG???
I have scanned and saved negatives using the same method before but for some reason this time I have run into this problem.
Any ideas where I messed up?

Did you remember to change to 8 bit mode before trying to save as a jpg?

Thanks Wray, that worked BUT...I have done this same procedure many times and have never had to change the file to an 8-bit before????

Next question is, have you always scanned in 48 bit color or 16 bit grayscale?

Another reason why Photoshop won't offer you JPEG as an option is if the file has layers.

Not true. When you have layers, PS reduces the layers for saving the JPG file automatically.
