Problem scanning 6x6 with Plustek 120

Folks,

maybe someone around here can help: I'm having trouble scanning strips of 3 6x6 negatives shot on a Hasselblad on the Plustek 120. There's no way to adjust the frames on the 6x6 holder to fit the 3 5.5 cm wide negatives the Hasselblad produces. The middle frame on the holder is too wide, so that it's right edge will overlap the 3rd negative on the frame. This is an issue with the holder so nothing can be done in software, it seems. The holder has 3 frames, the outer ones are adjustable in width, the middle one just slides in position but it's width is not adjustable, it is fixed at just above 6cm.

Is it simply not possible to scan Hassy frames with this holder? Is there another holder available that'll fit the Hassy frames? Am I supposed to give up on the only decent, current, and affordable medium format scanner? I'm baffled ... It's not like the Hassy is rare and one could assume Plustek did not come accross negatives produced by one when developing their holders.

Oh, and it is possible to scan 2 frames in the 6x12 holder, but it will not hold the film very flat, and one still has to deal with the 3rd frame and cut the 2 first ones in post processing.

What am I missing?

I seem to remember having the same problem. I think I'll cut my negs into strips of 2.

I can fit three no problem on mine. You may want to get your back adjusted for spacing, they often go out of alignment.

what do you mean by adjusting the back? On the holder, there's nothing to adjust ...

You can just slide the frames back and forth, and the middle one is just too wide, 6 cm instead of 5.5 cm and besides cutting it up, there's no way to make it narrower. It might work out if you have a camera that produces much wider spacing between the negatives. The Hassy does not.

Sorry, I meant your Hasselblad film back. I have about 7mm of space between my negatives on both my A12 and A20 backs and this seems to work ok.

Only thing you can do is move the filmstrip between scans (as i do).

If you have a Dremel tool, remove the one bar that overlaps, and re-glue it in place..simple fix it seems.

If you reposition the crossbar, I bet that for any spacing you choose, you'll find a camera that will cause issues because frame spacing is variable. So with a bit more effort, one could cut the middle frame in half and remove some material from the pieces along the long edges of the film, making the middle frame adjustable like the first and third one are. A bit more work but a better solution.

The OF120 has fixed positions (windows) for scanning MF film. Repositioning the crossbars is only possible within such windows. Better check that out first before starting to cut !

Only viable solution must come from Plustek and would be the introduction of offsets per window.

If the crossbars on the holders were at the right place, you could at least scan the whole lengh of the holder to one image and go from there. Vuescan allows you to do that. With the 6x6 holder as it is now, even this is futile.
