Hello all,
The focus ring on my 50/ 1.4 has become disconnected. It still rotates and focuses, it's just really sloppy. The screws have obviously backed out. Anyone ever pull one apart to re-tighten?

Several times.

Remove the lens barrel from the rear (remove span ring with lens spanner).

Then you can go in from the front. You'll see what I mean.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you mean A or B and where does one acquire the spanner?

A. Once A is removed, the entire front will come out (from the aperture ring forward). You can then look into the focus ring, and the screws that attach it. If I remember right, it is attached to a metal ring, that is attached to the focusing helix (you will see).

Great, Thanks. know of anything that can safely be improvised for a spanner, awfully close to the glass in there. Do you know a source for them?

I bought my spanners from ebay.

Some people file down the tips of needle nose pliers.

Also snap ring pliers from an auto store could work.
