Problem with a roll

It could depend on the way the film is 'counted' when you wind it on. If there is a red window, then it is up to the user of course! I have also had irregular spacing when the film wasn't tight enough against the roller that did the measuring - that was my mistake and a very quick way to learn to load properly.

On another old-ish camera the metal flat spring that pressed against the feed spool (in order to keep tension in the film and hence to turn the counting roller) gradually lost friction as the diameter of the spool reduced. That gave irregular spacing in the second half of the roll, but was quickly cured by very carefully bending the spring a little bit.
