Problem with D700

After our trip to Canada a couple weeks ago I took out the memory card and when I re-inserted it the camera stopped functioning. I tried a different card and it won't stay in the slot. There's something wonky with the slot and the card doesn't stay. Does anyone know or have experience with any technician in the Bay Area that would be able to take care of this for me? Also, the top of the camera shows CHR and I can't find what this means.
I feel like should be an easy fix and not require a trip to Nikon in southern
California. Thanks for any responses.

look inside the slot with a flashlight. It sounds like you might have bent the pins for the CF card.

Thanks Mudman I checked it out and it may be that but I still need
a repairman in the San francisco Bay Area to check it out.
Anyone out there know of someone?
