Problem with my R2A

My four month-old R2A doesn't reset the frame counter to zero when I rewind and take out an old roll of film. The first time it did this I just assumed it was a fluke. (Actually I didn't notice it, and only realized it when I saw that I was up to frame 24 after just one shot.)

When I took the next roll out I made a point to check the counter window and I could not get it to go back to zero. I tried it a few times with no film in the camera with no luck. I shot blanks and wound my way up to 36 and then put in the new film, but I miss having this done automatically.

The good people at Photo Village say they have not seen this problem before. I can bring it in for a warranty repair but if I don't want it swapped for a different camera, I have to wait while it gets shipped to Japan.

My questions for the board is: Has anyone seen this on a Bessa, or can anyone think of something stupid I could be doing that may be causing this?

Many thanks.

When you open the back of the camera, check the small pin in the back that goes into the small hole on the camera body... these parts reset the counter.. the pin engages some sping inside... maybe yours has something stuck inside the mechanism

Yes, I had a similar problem with my Bessa-T when it was 7 months old. The frame counter was stuck at the top end and didn't move at all. I sent it back to B&H and it was returned, repaired with no comment, a month later.
