Problem with RFF Book

"Lulu" does not sound very professional, does it?
I would change the publisher/printer even if the resulting book will cost more money. It is a unique book after all.

No way!!!!

Where?

Rover, go to Amazon.com and search the word Rangefinder. I only saw a couple for sale but I thought it was interesting how scarcity can effect prices. Of course selling something and offering something for sale are not the same thing. Jim

and Yup! again.

🙂

I ordered both books - the second book wasn't delivered and I complained. I then received a copy of the second book printed by Lulu in the US. Later I also received a copy from the Spanish printer. The US print is much better.

An alternative for US users is Blurb which seems to have better quality than Lulu but is also more expensive. There are many European print on demand shops - I've seen good quality books from http://www.cewe-fotobuch.ch (printed by a German company). UK version on http://www.cewe-photobook.co.uk

What a weird comment to make. Did/does Amazon sound more 'professional'?
How about 'Google'? 'Yahoo'?

And actually both books are "for sale" at that price.

🙂

Exactly, and both from the same seller. One person posting a For Sale at a high price does make the book "going for" $139.00.

I talked to a local printer early this year to quote a reprint of the RFF2 book.. he said he could easily match our price, or even bring it down a bit.. the catch is that he requires an order of at least 100 units.. and of course distribution is up to you

but I know the quality would be 10 times better than Lulu.. and as Gabriel said, their QC is in the toilet, and their motto is "the customer is never right"

Brett, I'd buy 2 copies of RFF book 2. I held off buying initially because of the reported print quality. Anyone else? We've got to get 100 units.

I would be glad to have another copy. Only 97 more to go, folks!

I want Books 1 and 2 and not just Book 1.

Perhaps I misunderstood? I thought that this was about Book Two. I have Book One, and it - mine, at least - was beautifully printed.

"Lulu" is actually a very effective name, IMHO, Raid, considering the French word for "read". 🙂 Now if they would only better their ways...

Matthew, there is a lot of history on the "Lulu" second printing... Raid's comments are probably fair. These links may give you some of the background on the various issues that were encountered by RFF in producing the second book. The first is short the second link is extensive. I'd read both.

Thanks, Jan. I did not want to elaborate. I based my comment on the many negative comments by RFF members.
