Properly Rekovered Kiev ?

Tricky - it's bookbinding leather , very thin .

Just remove the original and cut around the templates [ thin leather stretches more than the original hardened vinyl though ] Mine had been fixed by Oleg , so the vinyl had mostly been restuck . I don't know about other cameras .

i used a scalpel and dotted around the holes with the blade - not perfect but 1st effort .

Awkward around the s/t -

But it's just Evostick latext wood working glue , which sticks mostly to the leather -
So it's reversible !

I may do the s/t bit again , having bought a circle cutter !

I have a lovely regal purple/ blue for my avatar K4m - great with the black and 1/2 case !

I have also bought a K 4a 1970 - another suitable case for treatment !

I need a tan case for this one now - mine are dark brown .

To be honest , provided that the koverings are in keeping with the classic ethos of a vintage camera , I will gladly remove good vinyl from a K 4 .

This might be interference , but I love the transformation .

Sacrilege , perhaps , but some practise later - I would just love a cla Kiev 2 in tan leather !

looks good dee! I'm impressed with the panel that has the self-timer on it... i had a difficult time on mine getting the new cloth around this and it didn't fit so well as the others

Looks good dee. I agree that you should go ahead and recover your cameras. It's a fun project and gives a satisfying result. Post more pics of your projects when you complete them. I need a bookbinder around here for some leather.

Now you can see it alongside my new Regal Blue K 4m !
This is practise for a K 2a !!!

I don't know Ron. I ran across them searching for leather for bellows. I bought one of their sample booklets ($5) of the imatation leather and that's all I can tell you. I am sure they can give you the thickness dimensions though, if you send a request via email.... Good luck

The bookbinding leather which I have is very thin - nothing like the thickness of a Leica covering .
