But the FD 7.5 is an f/5.6 optic. Way too slow.
I think the enthusiasm is from a wider group than just M lens owners, but I agree, it is early to crown M43 as the future of photography, if not for any other reason then becasue Nikon and Canon likely will never embrace it.
That said, the market for non SLR cameras is huge, and the high end of this category where the DSLR has made in roads is where M43 will compete and can be successful, maybe. The G1 is competing against the D40 not the D3.

That's it. I'm selling my G1. Just too many problems. First, it can take M lenses. That's a killer. Second, the Canon FD 7.5 is just too slow.
Third, the Nikkor 8mm is fast but just not wide enough.

How much you selling it for? I'm interested 😀
Joe, the Starbucks 'market meltdown' picture, what aperture was that?

Panasonic's target with the G1 is those people shopping at Target or Best Buy, not a bunch of gearheads looking for another toy. They need to sell many hundreds of thousands of these cameras and lenses to consumers to justify the R&D. I can't decide if it will help them or hurt them with positioning the product that august companies like Novoflex are making all manner of adapters to fit ancient lenses to the camera.
LOL! Of course I said ..
not all of those 4/3rds lenses will AF with the G1 and DMW-MA1 😛
"That as may be, but the G1 is the best camera for manual focus out there. Ever."
Well, that settles it. Leica and CV, you are finished! Turn out the lights, lock the doors. Every pro will be carrying a G1 in a couple of months.
