Provia 400X seems to be back in production!

Sorry Jan, I loved Sensia 400 much more

I agree with Jan:
Provia 400X is by far the best ISO 400/27° reversal film ever produced.
And much much better compared to the former Sensia 400.
Provia 400X has significantly better sharpness, much finer grain, much better resolution, much better color reproduction and much better pushing capabilities.
Provia 400X is excellent at ISO 800/30° (it is almost as good as box speed), very good at ISO 1600/33° and still good at even ISO 3200/36°.

I was just starting to experiment with Astia, and liking it, when it disappeared. I'd like to see it come back. There was a purity of color that I liked.

I think it's the left overs from the master roll- I'll be using it til the end...
Kinda makes me regret buying a buncha expired rolls

I think it's the left overs from the master roll-

Unlikely.
Talked to someone with excellent contacts to Fuji and he said the film is in production.
Best you can do is
- buy and use it, show demand
- contact Fuji directly or via their numerous Facebook pages and tell them to offer this wonderful film again worldwide.

Cheers, Jan

Probably now it is time that we as customers demonstrate our needs and wishes, and that we tell Fuji that this film is so urgently needed:
- get in contact with Fuji in your country, and ask for this film
- get in contact with your distributor, and ask for this film
- if you are on facebook, write on the Fuji facebook pages and ask for this film.
For those of you in Europe, you can send emails to the responsible Fuji managers of Fujifilm Europe:
Mr Althoff: Stephan_Althoff[at]fujifilm.eu
Mr Boll: Ralf_Boll[at]fujifilm.eu
Let's our voices as customers be heard loud and clear.
Let's demonstrate the demand!

Just as an addition to the possibilities to get in direct contact with Fujifilm to demonstrate the demand:
Contact with the headquarter in Japan:
contact.fujifilm.com/cgi-bin/m…ontact_tokyo_headquarters

Let's go and help to bring this unique and outstanding film back in all countries!
Thanks guys!!

Well, I just picked up a few more rolls from MacoDirect. It may or may not be new production but as long as I can buy it I'll keep using it.

Fujifilm has published the discontinuation notice as well as the recommended replacement to this film.

WHY would they not notify consumers that the film is back in production? They did make a notice that Neopan 400 returned to production.

I dont believe at all that 400X is back.

I wish that it were however.

Fujifilm has published the discontinuation notice as well as the recommended replacement to this film.

Fujifilm, as in the actual mother ship of Fujifilm in Japan and not one of the regional Fujifilm sales companies, has never published a discontinuation notice for Provia 400X, and Provia 400X is most definitely still available in Japan and always has been.

I think Fujifilm UK may have made such an announcement, but they are just a single Fujifilm sales company responsible for one region of the world, and they probably did so because it wasn't profitable for them to stock it for their region anymore (just a guess on my part though ;)).

I keep an eye on prices at MacoDirect and order from them occasionally. On most things there are no differences, or the price difference is more advantageous on this side of the pond. I do not pay VAT when I buy from MacoDirect.

Provia 400X is available thru Amazon right now for about $53 for 5 rolls. It is coming from Japan but it is free shipping so the price is pretty good.

... until yesterday. Fujifilm the mothership has finally announced that Provia 400X is discontinued, and remaining stocks should last until about December this year.

Maybe if we all buy some, they will change their mind? Never worked before (Plus-X, Panatomic-X, Kodachrome, Ektachrome), but I guess there's a first time for everything.

Wow. I never knew Fuji made Plus-X, Panatomic-X, Kodachrome, or Ektachrome! I thought that was made by Kodak, you know, the company that didn't care enough about transparency films to keep on making it a few years ago. Yet somehow this gets twisted into the proposition (not necessarily by you) that Fuji aren't committed to film, blah blah blah. Fuji stopped making Velvia in about 2006 if my recollection is correct. You can still buy Velvia 50 today. Join the dots.

Neopan 400 & 1600, RAP. Those were really gone after tedious cuttings on different formats. And this time, the RXP is dead for sure.

Guess in near future they'll change the name into FujiPixel just for good.
