Who cares, as long as we're all having fun?
Congratulations Joe!

It is all about pictures. It just took a while to accumulate the necessary gear. I've got that now. Look for my gallery to expand soon.

I only use my digital p+s to take pictures of my children to send my parents by email, and to photograph my film gear.

Out of the limelight
Try to test the 1.5 with others 50´s that you have. I havent doubts that you enjoy much with this lens.

My M5s need red dots!
Can I still join the "Nirvana Gear Club"? It's been a long time since I publically proclaimed my one-ness with my stuff.
For I am already one with my three bodies and five lenses. Why bother with more?

Using vintage lenses with distinctive fingerprints makes sense in the 35mm format. If your goal is the sharpest, most detailed image possible, simply use a medium format camera and a tripod. Even the latest aspherical lens from Leica can't compete with that. IMHO

The way I see it, it would just take the 85/2, 100/3.5, 135/3.5, and maybe also the 35/3.5 to trade up to your "white whale." You only live once, Joe.
Lol, I bet that just shattered your inner peace. :bang:

nah!
look at it this way, i already have the 85/2 which is so very close to a 100 fov, it's a very sharp lens and i can use it the same as the 100/2, in a dimmer room.
i have the 100/3.5, proven sharpness and small & light enough to fit in a shirt pocket if i chose such a foolish place to put it. i have the 135/3.5 on the way, reputed to be one of the sharpest 135's, along with the nikon, around.
the 35/3.5 is like a small treasure to me, long sought after at a good price because i doubt it will get the use the others do unless it has a special 'i like it' signature.
actually i think the 100/2 is not even on my list any longer.
ah, inner peace survives...

the serenar 85/2 is plenty sharp. it's also a bigger heavy lens but i don't think you'd throw your back out or anything.
i got mine pretty cheap too.

Just kidding Joe. While I have two digicams I use film cameras far more and RF's more than LSR's. Good to keep one's hand in all formats, however, I think, as it keeps the mind sharp and at my age I have to think of that. Best wishes on using your 1.5 and keep healthy.back alley said:just wait kurt, i'm gonna be a shootin' fool with that 50/1.5!!
