Puerto Rico photo trip in the winter - any suggestions?

I'm planning a trip to San Juan some time later this year, probably early December. Do you have any suggestions for the trip? Particular places to see/eat/drink at? Good places to take photos? 😀

I'll be going alone and mostly be doing street photography in the city, but I'm considering an overnight trip to one of the islands. For people who's familiar with the area - if you had to choose one between Vieques and Culebra, which one would you choose? Thanks.

Old San Juan, El Morro, El Yunque (a rain forest) was decimated by Hugo in 1990 (?) but may be worth the trip. Maybe get out on the island some, maybe take a trip to Ponce.

Thanks! El Morro and Old San Juan are going to be first on the list. No so sure about Yunque since I'm not particularly into the nature stuff. And I'll look into a trip to Ponce.

For your purposes, Old San Juan and Ponce are the best. There's a road around the walls in old San Juan, populated with cats... in case you like them. And cats all over the place in the old city (in case you like them).

Just travel light, and have a wide-angle handy. I went with my 35mm in 2006 and liked the place. Be ready: it's an expensive place (food, services, all...).

Very much so 😀 I feed the stray cats around the block so they won't hunt squirrels and leave bloody carcasses all around. Adorable animals.

I'll take my 21mm if it gets back to me from Leica, a 28 if it doesn't. Expensive is what I've heard - but hopefully worth the cost. Thanks for the tips.

Lived in Aguadilla for four years. Do not forget the west side of the island. Great sunsets from Rincon and Arecibo radio telescope are two good local spots.

Culebra is better than Vieques. For street, Old San Juan is good, but I prefer the grit of Rio Piedras (in Plaza Mercado). Nature shots in El Yunque, etc. Best spot for shooting the sunrise is in Naguabo and Punta Santiago, Humacao. Western Puerto Rico for sunsets is awesome too. The Bioluminescent Bay in Fajardo is great for night shots.
