Is everyone buying an M6 at the moment?

Hi Ellen,
RFF is a gear oriented site and members pride themselves for making great deals on trading stuff on ebay, etc. On the other hand, a search will provide you with reports of such trades going wrong, and of the hassle necessary (camera repairs, etc) when this happens.
US 2100 is a "normal", maybe slightly higher price for this combo when compared to our classifieds, ebay, etc. But the fact that you can hold and inspect the camera, and possibly return it when something is wrong is at least worth several hundred dollars in my book.
It's a great combo. The 35/2 v3 is my favorite 35 Summicron. I would go for it. Before, do some simple checks in the store, make sure the lens is clean against a flash light, the meter works, the RF is aligned, and the shutter curtains close completely and have no pin-holes. Check the speeds by listening to them. Watch for corrosion, bubbles in the paint, and in the flash connectors and battery compartment.
The correct hood for the v3 is the Leica 12504. But you can buy cheaper screw-in hoods from ebay, and generic 39mm caps as well.

Often a store holds your payment until you have had sufficient time to try the camera. In Prague, where the major stores sell a lot of consignment goods, they wait a full month. They are not interested in selling something, consignment or not, that is not to your liking.
Generally when they buy something to resell, they pay a much smaller fraction of the retail value of the merchandise.
The longer something sits at the shop, the more the offers will be considered.
It is always easier to wheel and deal with something you do not want too badly, or can easily find elsewhere.
If you are comfortable with the price, you are more likely to be comfortable with the item.

The first batch of M6 had metering electronics that a prone to fail and repair is not so cheap. Ask, if the CLA included exchanging of the meter-circuit and who did the CLA (best to get the receipt also).
Otherwise, if everything works 100% (shutter, film-advance, smooth focus, aperture stops, absolutely no signs of haze in the lens - bring a small flash-light to check it ! -) then the price is OK. It would be best if you can test the camera for some days, then exposing a roll of slide-film under various conditions will be very helpful.
