Does anyone know how usually push processing is defined in terms of densities of the negative?
Explaining better: Usually (in a simple way) we can define the sensibility of the film as the one that for a Zone1 exposure leads to a density of around 0,1 (for a defined contrast which I don't remember the value). Ansel Adams advises to use something like density of around 1,25 for Zone VIII (more or less depending of the type of enlarger, paper,...).
Now for push processing we can forget what happens to Zone1 since the density will always be lower that the 0,1. We can also forget the contrast that will always be higher than the normal. What should we use? the Zone VIII value? but this would mean that since the contrast is higher the skin tone, for instance, would be darker than normal. If we use Zone V, most certainly we would blow the highlights.
Some compromisse must exist of course. Anyone knows what usually is used?
