Pushing TRI-X 400 to 1600 and using Rodinal 1:50

Good timing on this thread.. I actually have a roll of Tri-X that i shot at 1600 just for kicks. All i own is Rodinal.

I'm stuck deciding between using the massive dev chart's recommendation of 1+50, 18:30 @ 20deg or doing a stand development.

I recently did a roll of HP5+ shot at 1600 on a 60min semi-stand dev in Rodinal 1+100. 10 seconds agitation at first then a single inversion at 30min. I loved the results.

Decisions.. decisions..

Curious if all the photos at the link between the children photos are from the same roll? All four have beautiful tonality and very nice depth. Good job!

Ok, i did my roll of Tri-X in Rodinal 1+50 for 18:30. It definitely needed more time in the tank. Admittedly, when I saw the pictures I remembered that for many of them I went out for a walk one evening with the camera set to f/1.4 and 1/30sec shutter speed and just shot. So some of these were likely EI3200 or higher. Some were in daylight, so those were more spot on 1600.

Many of these were seriously pushed in LR +2 to +4. To give an idea of my scan process, I use a Reflecta 10M with Silverfast's SE's 16bit HDR Raw. I didn't buy the upgrade, so just single exposure. Then i use negfix8 to convert to gamma 2.2 and then LR for the rest.

I'll probably get a few more rolls of 400TX to shoot at 400 and then do another where I do a semi-stand, just to see more about how the film reacts to Rodinal.

Shot on a very foggy night in SF.
