Putting my first roll of Kodachrome in....

I know I know.. I'm sure some of you are wondering what the hell I've been doing for the 15 years of photography life I've had but at least I've come around right?

I'm looking forward to this, though I have to admit, my normal film is Tmax 400 and I find myself quite often pushing the limits of 400/800 iso and an f2 lens... iso 64 is going to take some getting used to I think!!!

Anywho, I've always wanted to try it before it's gone entirely. I bought a roll a few years ago. In fact my first roll expired in 2007, but it's been refrigerated ever since I bought it so I'm not worried about that. I picked up 4 more rolls of current stuff the other day so I'm all set!

Any suggestions? I read that it can be tricky to scan, which should be entertaining since I'm colorblind!!! I use a Nikon 4000 scanner.

Just don't sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" while shooting it. Everything else will be fine.

I recently saw an amazing book of Kodachrome from the 40's by Saul Leiter called "Early Color" he uses the color in a very selective way that you can tell it's from a b/w shooter's point of view (at least the book is edited like this). Seek it out for inspiration....

K64 used to be my standard but I have found it to be a tad slow with f/2.0 outside of normal day light hours; although Ive gotten some great shots over the years. You might want to carry a few rolls of fast film in case light drops and you wont be left in the dark.
Scanning is another issue: some people have problems with it, some don't. good luck.

Yea I can see myself not carrying my camera as much as normal just because it's going to be pretty damn useless outside of normal daylight hours now. I don't think I'll always carry kodachrome around as my standard film, but now and again when it suits my environment!
