Blazing fast AF. Among the sharpest lenses of its kind they have ever tested.
$4250.

Much less I'm sure? Though I think this is more in competition with the GR. A fast 28 with a FF sensor is unique in the market, though.
Still yeah, no, I'm not buying one. But I bet it's a big hit for Leica. They seem to have dodged every mistake they ever made, with this thing.

$4K seems like a very good price for what you're getting. A full frame sensor, a Leica 28/1.7 lens, proper distance scale, Image Stabilization, EVF, touch screen (useful for quick AF point), and from different first impressions, good AF performance.
Also: leaf shutter to 1/2000, silent electronic shutter to 1/16000.
The Sony RX1R by comparison is $2800 at BH right now, although the RX2 is probably around the corner.

I'm normally quick to find flaws in things - but this one looks like a home run !

Q looks Cute&Classy!
And ISO 12500 shot of the shot is impressive. It is modern and advanced camera underneath.
My respect to Leica!

all looks good, except the price,
must be very nice to shoot, and in 50mm mode it rivals the RD-1 too.

I'd somehow missed the optical zoom modes—I like the idea of a rangefinder-type frameline indicating the crop. Neat.

I'll take the Sony A7/R/S with the new Zeiss 35mm over this any day. (Mainly because I have a love/hate relationship with the 28mm focal length) Had this been a 35mm summilux and priced a bit cheaper (ohhh.. maybe... $2000-2500) I would have said that Leica hit a home run..

Ming Thein seems to like it very much:
I’m concluding this review with one of my very rare ‘highly recommended’ ratings – now if only they’ll sort out the firmware niggles, and make one in chrome with tan leather, with a matching 50mm sibling – and I had several spare kidneys to sell!

Is there going to be a Q Monochrom? I'd be interested in that.

I was loathe to mention that, since he seems to be a polarizing figure around here. But since he generally seems fairly willing to be grumpy about Leica, it's a fine endorsement!

Looks like a very nice street camera. The UI looks very good. Some of the image samples* I found impressive. Leaf shutter with 1/500 flash synch sounds good too.
The only thing I can't get my head around is, a Leica with "miniature effect" scene mode??? Really? - but at least they didn't include a "selfie mode"
*Edit: the colour straight out of the camera looks very good. See image #33 in the dpreview samples gallery and see more image samples on Steve Huff's preview here.

You'd be ripped off if you pay a dime more than $2,000 for an RX1R today. The camera readily goes for less in Asia, and I don't think a year's warranty is worth $800...even an out of pocket sensor swap would be cheaper.
But I concur that the price stacks up with the metal hood and EVF, and that the Sony has a fundamentally different experience. The Q seems to be pretty great for the price, which can hardly be said of most things digital Leica.
That said, $4,000 is a bit steep for a fixed lens body. Give me a M mount version and I'd be happy to own oe.
