hi,

I have few questions for those owning a ql17 qiii :

I use a 675 hearing aid battery 1.4v with a washer on its back, but the result is no go again.

Should I fill the cavities at the edges with foil also ?? should the battery contact with the narrow edge of the battery compartment (which is impossible without a conductive material)

thanks,

utku

just get a size 9 oring and wrap it around the battery place some tin foil on the positive side and then it should work...

utku, I sent you a PM reply on your question to me. Here is a photo of the camera that I was refering to in the reply.

but it is no go again.

I don't know if these will help you, but here is a picture of the battery with the #9 O-ring, I'm using in my GIII QL 17:

And a close-up of the battery compartment on my Canonet. It is shown in the correct orientation, positive side at the top:

Try cleaning the battery terminals with vinegar - sometimes there is a little oxidation, even if they look clean, which stops current flowing.

Please elaborate on this method. What do you use to clean the terminals? A cotton swab dipped in vinegar?

Thanks.

utuk, yes the positive side goes on the narrow side. Also be sure to wipe off the battery to remove any skin oils that come from off your fingers.

Kyle, yes just dip a cotton swab (Q-tip) in the vinegar, and wipe the terminals.

Yes - a little vinegar on a cotton bud usually cleans the terminal quite well. Alternatively, something slightly abrasive (nail file?) used gently on the terminals also works.

guys, thanks for the info, I've made it with #9 0ring and some foil..

malkav, my special thanks.

regards,

Utku, there is an easier way. Buy a Wein cell 1.35 volts Zinc-air battery (MRB625). When its done, remove the outer ring, and use THAT around a 675 hearing aid battery- works great !
