Aaargh, I just bought one of the older canonet ql17's (you can probably guess where), I got it today and was initially very pleased as it looked in very good condition as it had in the photos. However, its cocking the shutter without advancing the film quite regularly and sometimes the lever (whose stroke is quite unsmooth) will lock up mid stroke and refuse to go either way.

This happened to anyone else? Think I'll contact the seller.

I had the same problem after one year with my Canonet QL17 and I decided that buying one that is in working order (recent CLA) was cheaper than a CLA at the local camera repair shop. If you can swing it, use this camera, it is really fun a has great glass. I uesd it on a recent trip to Mexico and it never failed. Good luck!
