I've put about 12 rolls of film through my QL17 with no problems at all. Today near the end of a roll the film didn't advance properly but I shot another frame and everything *seemed* ok. I wound back the film OK and developed it. The negs have come out with light scratches horizonally across the middle of all the frames.
I just put a junk roll of film through, it did it's jamming thing once as before and after I wound the film back I checked it and sure enough it is scratched all teh way along too.
Any ideas? I can't see anything wrong.

The 'shiny' side (non emulsion side). The scratches are exactly like the ones in the thread Kim posted the link to. The 2 little rollers and film pressure plate all look totally clean and OK.
The sprockets slipped and jumped between film sprocket holes when I forced the film through when it jammed. It's possible that there is a film advancing problem and forcing the film is dislodging it and that is what is causing the scratches.
I think I'll take it in to a guy near me that repairs old cameras and see what he thinks. If he can't solve it I think it is destined for the bin. I can't use a camera that isn't reliable

Hi,
If you can't get it fixed, whatever you do don't put it in the bin. There are several members here who might be able to resurrect it and good lens elements for these cameras are in demand. I am sure several of us have the odd donor/parts body and may be able to fix it. I certainly have.

If you decide to let someone look at it, go no farther than Greyhoundman, he does good work and has reasponable prices. he worked on both a 28 and a 17 for me and I am very pleased with his work
