QL19 Newbie

Hi, I've just won a working condition QL19 on ebay and I'm so excited waiting for it to arrive. I am wondering whether it is possible to tell which year it is, the 1965 or 1971 model? And whether there are any differences between the two?

The one thing that has me a bit puzzled is that in many photos of QL19s I see that the external flash has a connector pin. The photo of mine didn't show a pin so unless there is a slide out cover over it, it doesn't have one. Photos are here.

Any tips on using it would be gratefully received. This is my first rangefinder camera.

That seems to be the earlier type (not te new generartion QL17/19 and not the GIII).

Details and specs on the original QL19

The main differences seem to be that the older version (i.e. the one you're getting) takes a different battery and the meter only goes up to ASA 400. Oh, and your version only has a coldshoe and a PC sync socket while the newer model has a hotshoe as well as a PC sync socket.

I have the exact same model - and it was my very first rangefinder. It is the 1965 model, like mac_wt and filmgoerjuan said. It's a very nice camera, with a very satisfying heft. Enjoy!
