I own a Black Half Case to fit the Leica M Camera made by Mr. Zhou. The M3 I own has been painted with a black enamel. I noticed the bottom plate is showing a deteriorization around the rim of the plate. No paint loss, just a rough feeling. I've heard of cases that haven't been tanned correctly and as a result have "eaten" away the finish.

Has anyone else noticed such an issue ?

I've got just one Mr. Zhou case (at present). It's been on an M4-P for a long, long time, and no sign whatever of any problem.

I have a black paint M4 - the bottom plate is covered with an almost undetectable clear plastic protective film that feels a bit rough. Could that be it?

No, I can't notice any "film" over the paint job. I know what you're speaking of but it's not on my camera.

As I stated, I see no paint loss, just that rough feeling. Very odd.

The case I have was one of the first offered in this group before Stephen took on the line. I don't know if this could have been caused by the leather or a flaw in the preparation of the bottom plate.
