Ques. about the trigger winder

Hi,

I have a couple of questions about the trigger winder:
(i) how many of you have it?
(ii) for those that have it, is it durable?
or is it fragile?
How is it lasting?
Do you have to 'baby it'?
Or will it stand up to punishing use?

(iii) Is the inside mechanism - rubber belts?
or is it made of metal gears?
Maintenance free?
WD40 spray?

Thanks in advance for any tips, usage feedback.
I am thinking of ordering one.
It's looks like a cool thing to have . . . but I won't die without it.😕

I have to Bessa winders and now to RapidWinders. If my Ls took a winder, I would have more.

I use my Bessa winder about 30% of the time on my T. Never did any extra lubing, spraying or anything. It never comes off of the body as I LOVE the way it makes the T hang (faster draw). It was kind of funky the first few seconds (never read instructions till problems hit), but once I figured it out they are very easy to work.

The one that gets used is over four years old and never had a problem.

IMHO, they are one of the parts that make the Bessa line a great value. I do wish Pres. K would come out with a L2A and L2M with a mount and accepting a winder.

I have had 2 for ~1yr. One is just as solid as the day I got it, the other is "loose"...the trigger hangs down somewhat when tucked away and when in the open position becomes uncocked easily. I'm wondering if it's fixable or not.

In usage I much prefer using the triggerwinder then the thumb winder. I wrote up a review as to why here:

It is a nice option. Have to be really careful about making sure you pull all the way thru. Otherwise you can get overlapping frames. Sppeds things up a lot and less movement of hands/fingers.

I have one on my Bessa-T, reminding me of liking years ago using a Canon Vt Deluxe. I too like the additional strap lug for vertical carry. The trouble, as mentioned in the linked article, is coordination between winding and releasing the shutter... if you to to run it too fast and your hands get out of synch then you could get overlapping frames, and I suppose it might cause mechanical troubles in the camera's film-wind innards. Just don't be a speed demon with it, run it nice an smooth, and it'll be a great accessory.

Watch your finger around near the rewind button. It's a bit big and easy to press depending on your grip.

Otherwise fine, and gives a nice vertical hang.
