Question about Amedeo S-M adapter

I am getting the Amedeo adapter for my Nikkor 50 millenium, before I sell the nikon s3 that came with it, I want to make sure that focusing wide open and at the closest distance (0.9m) will be ok with the adapter on leica. Otherwise, I will probably keep the S3. thanks in advance

I'd keep it until you are sure. There are several variables here: adjustment of the Leica RF, adjustment of the Nikon RF, the lens itself, and the adapter itself (cam, flange, helical etc.) Amadeo is a good guy, and a genius at design, but he just doesn't have control over all of the variables. Having said all this: mine works.

The ones on ebay from HK are generally for Contax S to M, which means they fit the Nikon RF lenses but dont focus at close distance or wide open. I could be wrong...

Contact Amedeo directly. If I were buying the adapter for one specific lens, I would send it to him for the fitting. All of these lenses have some margin of error. You need to be within 0.02mm of the correct spacing. Easier to do that with the lens in hand. I have custom shimmed my Zeiss Opton 50/1.5 to be a perfect match with the adapter, but a small adjustment was necessary.

I only have experience w/his older Nikon RF-LTM adapter, but it is spot-on @ close distances. Same goes for his Contax RF-LTM adapter. At the time I bought them, both about a year & 1/2 or 2 years ago, he was using an M8 to test his adapters.

As Mssrs. Marks & Sweeney wrote, however, there are other factors which may lead to different results w/your particular M body. My M9 has revealed a depressing # of my vintage lenses, the vast majority really, to be off (usually front-focusing) @ closest focus. Fortunately, most work fine on the more forgiving film bodies, so not the end of the world.
