This forum is great, too bad I have not heard of it before...

My question to you seasoned Voigtlander users is:

I own a Bessa R2A with the Nokton 40mm lens. I intend to buy a second lens - possibly the 75mm. I purchased a 15mm with a 28/90 lens adapter but sent the lens back because I realized the 40mm was (almost) wide enough for my needs. Now, the question:

If I use the 28/90 adapter (which should bring up the 28/90 framelines) with the 75mm lens, will the adapter screw up the on-camera adjustable framelines when set to 75mm? I other words, does it matter which adapter I used with the 75mm? 😕

Thanks for any guidance in advance.

Drew

Welcome on the forum,Drew. As Roland said, the framelines on a Bessa are manual. But I must confess that I am slightly nonplussed that you consider a 15 mm lens an alternative for a 40. The 40 is a standard length and the 15 is a rather extreme specialist wideangle. Inbetween we have 19, 21, 24, 28 and 35. I'm surprised you didn't consider going just one step down to 28 mm.

Thanks guys!

Jaap: I see what you're saying and believe me, I'd but both lenses if I had the funds but right not I can afford only one. The 15mm appealed to me because I like to take pictures of buildings and the 40mm has proven too narrow in that regard. But for most pictures I take, the 40mm is wide enough, even if it's not your classic wide-angle lens. Meanwhile, the 75mm would give me an opportunity to take portraits of my newborn son. It looks like I'll be spending more time with him in the coming years than walking around photographing buildings... 😉

Again, thank you.

Welcome to RFF, Drew! As to lenses, I'd suggest you just stick with the 40mm for a while and get used to it. It will serve admirably well for portraits of your son. When you have explored all the 40mm has to offer, and find yourself annoyed that it is too wide or too long for important tasks, then is a good time to solve that problem with a new lens. 🙂

Dugg: You're absolutely right, that's what I would have done under any other circumstance but here the situation: My wife purchased herself an expensive designer handbag and to assuage her guilt she told me to get something of equal value. I have no idea how long her largesse will last so I'm getting the lens while I can... 😉
