question about the 28/3.5

I recently got one of the black copies. It looks perfect on the s3 2000 (well, I know the sp2005 and original s2 black would be a better fit. 😱). I noticed that the focus ring would rotate simultaneously when I try to change the aperture. Is it normal?

Also, I try to mount the lens onto amedeo adapter. It seems fit fine. however, the lens helical encounters some friction when I try to focus the lens. Not sure what the problem is. The adapter I have is the earlier version (with RF coupling). I didn't want to force the focus ring.

Set the aperture first, then focus.
That's the way it was done...

Perfectly normal. The trick is to hold the index finger of your right hand on the focus wheel to stop the lens from rotating, and then change the aperture with your left hand.

Not sure what the problem is here. Does the lens focus through the full range from infinity to 0.9m and back when on the adapter (but not on a camera)?

Some of the S-mount VC lenses came with a collar that would attach to the aperture ring - thus giving it larger diameter. I dont know if it came with the 28f3.5 - but I know it came with the 35f2.5. I will see if I can find one in my collection of weird stuff.

I put on a 43mm vented hood (not sure if it would create vignetting yet, but will find out soon) and i use index finger to change the aperture while the middle finger hold the focus ring (like Jon mentioned). It is working very well.
I have to say the 28mm is such a lovely lens. It makes me like the nikon RF system even more.

the rear rim of the nikkor lens is probably contacting the roller or focus arm of the leica , i had this problem with a custom adapter many years ago . the large rear ring holding the focus coupling for the nikon rangefinder cameras is large enough to make contact .

the 2.8cm lenses optics set fairly deep in the barrel so a hood is really not necessary . the one pictured is too small for the focal length .

the lens is very sharp wide open , at 5.6 to 11 it is great .

i did not really like the nikon 2.8 finder , small exit pupil so difficult with glasses . back in the 1970's used this lens with a leitz brightline finder for most of my photographs . it is hard to describe the quality it produces . it was my favorite lens for many years .

Beauty set up/outfit.... but probably your hood vignetting.
A question,please,curiosity, why have you taped the nikon in front and the Nippon kogaku tokyo logo?
If is it for mimetized camera there are also lens engraved in white.
