Hey,
Lately I've been taking fashiony type pictures with a 5d/Quantum flash, specifically taking them on-axis, with the light just about the lens.
It's a fun, but heavy+ unwieldy combo
As an alternative I've been checking out the Fuji series w/the EF-X20 flash, which basically does the same on-axis job. I've been considering partnering that with an Arri 650W continuous light, which if my calculations are correct is about the same power as the Quantum on full.
In this situation I'd be using the continuous light as the key, and the EF-X20 as an on-axis fill to fill out the shadows in the face etc.
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this, had used it or anything like that?
Specifically, my main concerns are that the EF-X20 wouldn't be strong enough, although as I said I'd be using it as a fill, not as a key, so I don't need it to be super powerful per se, just powerful enough to even out the faces somewhat.
I'm also concerned about the recycle time and colour consistency.
