Question on lens designations by Leitz?

I think that their designation SM means screw mount, but what does CM mean?
Anyone know? TIA.

I doubt they mean Contax Mount.

Yes, for example the 27mm.f/1.4 Hektar Rapid.

They also made an adapter to mount most of the SM lenses on C-mount movie cameras. I think there may have been an M version as well.

I was looking through the ads at KEH under Leica M lenses and I came across several that had the designation CM and could not figure it out. Had the thought that maybe it meant lenses for the Leica CL. or the Minolta CLE.

Where CM means centimeter. This what you mean ?

Tony, KEH uses things like "50 F2 IN CM DR SUMMICRON ...."

English is not my mother tongue, but after being puzzeld for a while I assumed that IN stands for 'inches' and CM for 'centimeters' as an indication for which distance scale is used. Leitz produced lenses with only inches or centimiters, or combined scales.
